Meet the Team..

Matt Gardner

Matt was a huge Star Trek fan as a child, setting him straight on the path to becoming a scientist. He studied Physics at the University of Warwick and completed a Masters in Medical Physics at Swansea University. Next, he joined the NHS Scientist Training Programme.

Achieving registration as a Clinical Scientist in 2014, Matt became a phototherapy physics lead. He also specialised in diagnostic radiology, as well as radiation protection applied to radiology and radiotherapy.

Matt came to faith in 2016, aged 26. He’d spent a few years pondering the purpose of life, but generally held God in some contempt. After meeting Davinder, he started to spend time with Christians and was pleasantly surprised by the atmosphere. This led him to study scripture and the evidence behind the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Davinder Gardner

Davinder’s love of physics came from conversations with her science teacher. She started to read widely, both about the subject and its history. Davinder went on to study Physics at Leicester University. Soon, she was looking for humanitarian applications.

Davinder currently works as a Clinical Scientist, performing equipment tests and planning radiotherapy treatments. She has undertaken research in lung tumour motion management, as well as better imaging to aid treatments. Davinder also works with The Hope Project charity.

Davinder is a keen public speaker. As well as going into schools, she has collaborated with Pint of Science. The topic? The principles of ultrasound for the general public. She honed her skills through her time as a children’s entertainer.

Davinder came to a relationship with Jesus when she was 23. She had debated with believers and felt she came out on top intellectually. But she soon had to eat her words. Through these debates, she became aware of her preconceptions and the weaknesses in her arguments for disproving God’s existence. She actually needed and wanted a relationship with Him.
